Apparently apple is looking around for other suppliers. They're already looking
to lg and sharp for screens for the phones, and if they can find one to replace
the retina Samsung makes, I'm sure they'll do that. They're also looking for
other dram makers (not really new though) and I'd be shocked if anything else
they have mono-supplied by Samsung wasn't in the works of being diversified.
Samsung, for it's part, is doing the same. Looking for other buyers for it's
parts, since Apple sales tend to have slim margins for them.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I think Samsung will have a long memory for this. Not just because they lost a
patent case, that's just business after all. But this particular decision
smacks of a home town jury unjustly (and incompetently) enriching Apple at
Samsung's expense, and Samsung was clearly peeved at how far out of their way
Apple went to portray them negatively in the press.
Short term? Foot dragging perhaps, but the contracts probably prevail. Longer
term? I think Samsung supporting Android based electronics has lots of options,
Apple looking for new high volume, high quality suppliers maybe not so much.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
