Not an Apple fanboy, a patent fanboy.

But if every mickey mouse patent becomes "valuable", what's the use in
having any patents at all?

Can't people recognize a pyramid scheme when they see one?

(Okay, not so much a money pyramid, more of a power pyramid, but the principle
is the same. It can't last forever. Just another boom road to another big bust.)

Few weeks ago, when I read about the jury selection and found out that one of
them is an engineer how got his own patent, I started getting really worried. I
knew right aways that guys like him are a big risk for Samsung, and was quite
surprised Samsung's lawyers agreed to have him.

There were two things I was worried about, and unfortunately it seems like I was
right in both accounts. First, guys like him tend to have a certain world view
in regards to patents. In his own words, the way he looked at it was: "I
was thinking about the patents, and thought, 'If this were my patent, could I
defend it?' ".

The other think I was worried abut was that he would appear more
"knowledgeable" on this topic to his fellow jurymen, and would be able
to influence the others as well, and this is just what happened ...
