When anyone else's product has to look like a potato
Authored by: deck2 on Friday, August 24 2012 @ 09:16 PM EDT
Apple demands that anything close to a rectangle with rounded corners violates
their "patent". So all other phones will have to look like potatoes or
lumpy rocks or anything impractical to use so as not to violate their
"patents".

Steve Jobs may have left a legacy of looking like a bigger jerk that Bill
Gates.

I hope that the verdict gets overturned on appeal because of the judge. I just
hope the judge does not stay on like the one in the Novell/MS case and recuses
herself.

So does that mean if the next fruit phone has a bigger screen as has been
rumoured Samsung can now sue them for copying their trade dress or whatever
because that is a Samsung thing of making things with bigger screens not the
fruit phone?

The real issue here
Authored by: celtic_hackr on Friday, August 24 2012 @ 10:50 PM EDT
The real issue here is now Samsung will have to appeal this. Samsung's devices
will be banned until a new trial, if and when it gets kicked back down. Samsung
will lose money with lost sales and more legal expenses until then. In the end,
if Samsung turns this verdict around, how will Samsung be made whole for all the
lost sales and opportunity?
