MS and Apple are "frenemies"
Authored by: Gringo_ on Thursday, August 30 2012 @ 08:11 AM EDT

They have been frenemies for decades, and sometimes Gates and Jobs cooperated. For example, Gates put in an appearance at an Apple launch party once. Microsoft developed Word for Mac, and owned shares in Apple. I wouldn't at all put it past those two to plot to kill Android together. There is the "Enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing too. It is just natural they would find a great deal in common on this one imperative to kill Android. All it would take is a wink and a nod to better coordinate their efforts, with hardly a word spoken. A plan could have been laid down between Gates and Jobs before the latter departed for that Great Bit-bucket in the Sky.

Licences for MS and it's OEMs from Apple...

Might that be why Samsung have announced that they'll be making a w8 phone? To
get the extortion protection from MS?

If that's the case, I wouldn't be suprised.
