You don't "buy" what? A solid history
of color perception research and
the
thoroughly educated opinion of every
color scientist on the
planet?
Color reproduction (RGB, CMYK and other
primary color sets) and
color perception
(color wheels, opponent color theory) are
two very different
things. One has very
little to do with the other when you
look closely into it.
Believe me, I have
a PhD in the field, and I teach this
stuff, so I
know.
To the human eyes, brain and mind, there
are four primary
chromatic colors, colors
that stand out as unique to every human
being who has
normal color vision. These
colors are red, green, blue and yellow.
Which exact
hues are considered "pure"
yellow etc has been show by experiments
to be very
consistent across the human race,
in fact so consistent that a color system
has
been built around it, NCS:

/wiki/Natural_Color_System
NCS is not the only color system based on
color
perception, but it is the one that is most solidly
founded in perception
research and does not confuse
color mixing technicalities with color
appearance.
