Assuming the squares are trademarked, Microsoft has just cornered the world
market in squares coloured the 4 (*) primary colours! Blue, green, yellow, red.
From now on anyone on the web or elsewhere using a coloured square can expect a
nastygram threatening a trademark infringement lawsuit. One has to pursue
trademark infringements vigorously or lose them, unlike copyrights and patents.
If Apple wins vs Samsung, no-one except Apple will be able to use squares with
rounded corners either.
"Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into!" Hardy to
USPTO.
* Yes, 4. To human perception blue is opposite yellow and green opposes red.
