Are you *really saying that the election system in the USA forces a rushed count
of the votes, and then treats that rushed count as binding?
It doesn't seem to matter much that the voting machines are run by republicans:

1. People were not voting in droves long before 2000.
2. There were 5 or 6 recounts. All but one favored Bush.
Naturally, the Democrats wanted to keep that one.
I got fed up with the Republocrats back in the 80's and
registered with...another party. They may not win a lot
of elections, but they represent my interests better than
either of the "major" parties.
