No, with the invention of the sitcom...

No, Americans became ignorant with the invention of the sitcom...

Actually most were ignorant before. The surge in the numbers of highly
knowledgeable people is only post WWI or WWII. People are getting back to their
lazy ignorant roots.

Sadness
Authored by: mbouckaert on Thursday, August 23 2012 @ 02:04 PM EDT
TV is only one item.

We are now surrounded by "things" that are consuming an huge amount of
the time that is our life; and which we do not understand, or want to
understand.

I know this is an audience of my geek-peers, mostly; and of researchers of the
Law: So you may be the exception, and have enough curiosity to try to
understand. But you can't: Tell me of all the details about all the physical
laws that your smart phone employs, plus the laws of logic that govern its
code?

No. We are essentially surrounded by magic, the effects of which we just
accept. To use the original meaning of the word, this is a religion -- what we
relate, link back to.

How do you expect the majority to keep the Spirit of the Renaissance in this
environment?
