Technology?
Authored by: PJ on Thursday, August 23 2012 @ 07:06 AM EDT
I don't think anyone can realistically
say that having problems with Apple products
is the norm. Quite the contrary. In fact,
studies have been done that show that 90+%
of owners of iPhones and iPads simply love
them.

I've owned a lot of Apple products over the
years, and they were trouble free, incredibly
so. On the few occasions that a problem
arose, you could fix it with new parts rather
easily. I did it myself. Tiny screws, I'd
acknowledge, but I was able to do it.

These days you are right that it's going more
closed, and the iCloud stuff turns me off
totally, but to claim that their hardware
is deficient isn't true at all, from my
experience or from teh studies.

Don't confuse the technology with implementation

I'm in the 0% on mobile, so I can't discuss the reliability of phones or pads.
But don't confuse reliability with technology. You can have great technology
and still build it poorly.

I use a Mac in my recording studio for the simple reason that non-apple
alternatives are either grossly inferior (Windows) or non-existent (Linux). So
far, no complaints on reliability.

Outside the studio, I use Slackware. Technologically capable of anything I want
to do, but lacking necessary professional audio software.
