The way I see it, Google has been more than patient as the
world colluded and ganged up on them.
Now they have decided that being nice doesn't get you friends
and that they have let this go on long enough. This suit,
which will take years to unfold, is the response.
Steve Jobs said he wanted to annihilate Android. Turnabout,

It reminds me of a comment I made about SCO v. IBM:
