Honestly, I can't even tell that the thing in Soylent Green is a tablet.
Also, the iPad was not the first functioning tablet. There are plenty of other
tablets prior to the iPad.

Curiously, none of them looked remotely like the iPad design patent. With
everyone claiming that the iPad design is so obvious, why did none of these
designs look even remotely close to the iPad?
If Apple was the first to make this design work for a tablet, I think they
deserve
a patent. That is the whole point of the patent system; to promote and reward
innovation.
Besides, there are a million ways Samsung and others can (and have) designed
around the iPad design patent. See the new Tab 2 or 10.1 Note. These are
both designs with rounded corners that are not covered by the iPad design
patent. I don't understand why everyone vilifies Apple for protecting their
design. Is it really that unreasonable to expect Samsung to make products that
do not look exactly like an iPad? I own an original Tab 10.1 and everyone
thinks it is an iPad.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
