That looks like a typo.
In -1936, as clay tablet-making was being turned into an art form, it was widely
recognized even by goat herders that round edges prevented the full tablet from
breaking when slipping off the backs of sheep packs. Rectangles was never much
disputed because of its efficient packing topology. Being of size to be held in
the hands was necessary among nomads in mountainous regions, who did not have
tables or a flat earth (contrary to most's perception, the earth has been known
for thousands of years not to be flat).
