Try flow-chart template-sheets, available to school students in 1975.

Try this - lots of old examples out there

Type typing 'antique silver cigarette cases' into Google and look at the images.
There are lots of examples. Then there was the Acorn News Pad trialled in 1997
and inspired by the gadget shown in the movie 2001. There are lots of other such
devices out there, including various pocket calculators both electronic and
mechanical. I have a Casio MC-34 mini-card converter calculator, with rounded
corners which is several decades old and still functions perfectly. There is
also the old example of the school slate and the clay writing tablet.
