Why do Ecuador protect suspected sex-offenders?
Authored by: Wol on Thursday, August 16 2012 @ 09:07 AM EDT
Bear in mind, it seems that the FACTS of the case are that this has already been
through the Justice system in Sweden once, and got thrown out as "no case
to answer".

So to use the Anglo-Saxon term for it, it seems a pretty clear case of
"double jeopardy", with political pressure being placed on the other
party to change their story.

I can't vouch for the certainty of those facts, but it certainly comes across as
politically motivated persecution!

Cheers,
Wol

Why do Ecuador protect suspected sex-offenders?

Being a Swede, I have every reason to believe the lawsuit is brought in earnest . . .

I don't think you can rightly say this. Lawsuits are filed by individuals, businesses, organizations, agencies and etc.

1) Swedes are not known to be more earnest than other peoples in other countries.

2) Plaintiffs are not always the good guys and defendants the bad buys.

-------------

Anyway, there is not lawsuit in this case, it is a criminal matter. Moreover, last I checked, the criminal charges have not been filed against Assange in Sweden. Sweden wants him to appear in Sweden to answer questions about two alleged rapes.

The prosecutor herself didn't allege the rapes and neither did the cops. This is not (yet) a case of the State vs. Assange.

Two women who dated Assange filed rape charges primarily on questionable consensual issues and protective prophylactic charges. The prophylactic broke or fell off. Assange slept with one and then on the same night, woke up and had sex again. But the second time he didn't wake her up properly and get formal permission and was too rough. Who knows?

The point I want to make is 'rape' in this particular is not what we might think of when we think of rapes in terms of violent crime against completely unwilling women. It is not so black and white.

It seems by what I've read that the slept with him consentually in their apartments. Maybe when one discovered the existence of the other, they both when after him. I mean their were no emergency phone calls to the police after this, rape kit testing, immediate reporting and whatever.

Somewhat sincerely, I'd like to say I wouldn't want to date a woman in Sweden without an Attorney present to advise. Also cameras and sound recording devices to avoid he said, she said situations.

In regards to politics of this situation, the Commander in Chief of the world's most powerful military personal wants him in the US. Also and particularly, the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton really wants him. Also, the US Attorney General Eric Holder as well as Federal agencies put in a lot of hours digging into Assange and Wikileaks looking for dirt and collecting information and developing legal theories of possible ways to charge and convict him.a They also influenced banks and credit card companies and paypal to cut off his supply lines. Also taking Wikileak servers and websites off line.

Politics to me are games like Obama and Romney play.

What I see here is more like the powers of the world are out to make him pay their price for what he did.

Also, if all Sweden really wants is him to answer questions there are ways for him to stay in the UK and answer the prosecutor in Sweden. This is not like the dark ages where we have to travel to communicate.

If Sweden only wants him to answer questions, why is it so important that he be on their soil?

Closing this post, I'd like to state a personal opinion: I don't trust Assange's character, not at all. I suspect his ex-sex partners of being of lower caliber ladies than I'd want to be around. Come to think of it, I don't trust the good intentions of anyone in particular, although odds have it there will be some well meaning people.

~
