Comes 2911 - Foot in mouth moment

But Apple learned so well. Why would you want to have multiple pieces of
software which could do the same thing on your iOS device? How many apps have
been denied because they "duplicate a function of iOS"? And, Microsoft
is still doing this by denying access needed by competing browsers on Windows 8.
Why would you need anything but IE9?

I doubt WAV is an MS format either. When did CDs come out? Early 80s? I'm sure
somebody will correct me, but isn't WAV pretty much the native format on CDs?

(Note I said "pretty much" - I suspect the computer WAV file contains
a little more info than the CD.)

Cheers,
Wol

narrow mindset of MS internal culture

Yup, there were twelve external file formats that IE recognised,
they were hard coded, sorry I can't find my reference ATM.
The situation persisted up till at least IE6. If you had a format
on your web server that IE didn't recognize, and MS hadn't
written a plug-in for, you could write your own plug-in as
a third party download and install, or you could invite anguish
from users by asking them to change to a sensible browser.
