Then you are working in C(++) and not JAVA. Different beasts so to speak. JAVA
throws a fit if you try to go outside bounds on arrays in C you can do negative
indices (just make sure there is either another array before it or you are only
reading the memory). For other sorts of range checks macros and inlining does
the trick
