Anyone remember the MegaHurtz wars?
Authored by: Wol on Saturday, August 11 2012 @ 01:55 PM EDT
When Intel was heavily marketing the fact their chips were faster, but AMD's
chips actually did more work at a slower clock speed?

The same thing with megapixels on a camera. A good quality 2MP sensor can
produce a picture that is actually better than a cheap 5MP job.

In case you're wondering, that's why DSLRs are so expensive. The general build
quality is much higher, the optics are much better, the sensor is much better.
My wife's camera (a Sony :-( produces beautiful poster prints despite
(automated) warnings from the printer saying "We can't guarantee quality at
this resolution". As compacts go, it was expensive with a good lens and
sensor.

So don't assume just because it's a 2MP picture from NASA, that the quality is
poor. It'll be a LOT higher quality than today's 2MP cameras.

Cheers,
Wol
