Unless they're a politician, in which case taking bribes is just SOP.
They just renamed them "Campaign Contributions"[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

As I understand - and IANAL - if a Judge is found to be biased, they're
usually just over-ruled on appeal. Can they be impeached and criminally charged
for being biased? I wouldn't expect so. Removed from that particular case:
absolutely.
To be bribed however - now that should carry impeachment and
criminal charges if it doesn't.
So yes:
I agree with your sentiment
that both bias and bribery have no place in a decision that is supposed to be
Just and Fair.
However:
I disagree with your sentiment that appears to
be they are equally wrong:
bias can be just as bad whether its
bribery or not
Of course, all you have to do to correct me is
point to the approriate Legislation (or equivalent) which shows that a Judge can
be impeached and criminally charged facing a possible prison sentence for bias
that is equivalent to what's available for bribery.
And therein lies - I
think - the primary issue from what the first anon responded:
That's
a pretty serious charge to be making without evidence.
Facing a
prison sentence for behavior is pretty serious compared to a non-criminal
claim.
