But why should *anyone* be allowed to be a malicious, offensive, BULLY?
"Your freedom to swing your fist ends where it meets my nose".
I'm sorry, while it's not a particularly serious offense in itself, I hope that
17-yo gets the book thrown at him and learns a lesson. Four weeks in a boot camp
would probably be a good punishment, except we don't have that sort of thing any
more.
I know drawing the line is difficult, but I'm afraid I would like to come down
harshly on deliberate disrespect. Unfortunately, this all probably stems from
lack of self-respect, and punishments rarely work on that sort of person :-( and
people with self-respect rarely disrespect others.
Cheers,.

Cory Doctorow's article is unfairly sympathetic to the blogger - it is based on
a media report that did not report on the blog entries that were deserving of
the charge (death threats) and instead pretended that only the "you let
down your father" blog entry was the one that caused the charge. Read the
Boing Boing comments to get links to alternate media postings that give quotes
from the criminally offensive blog entries as well as the abusive one quoted in
the title here.
