I have an Ipad...if I want to read in bed, it's great! But....

So yes, Apple's stuff *is* nice...

But...
I've seen a few glitches with that iPad...from the iBook store breaking until i
upgraded the OS, to occasional random popouts to the home screen, to Safari not
knowing what to do with a .zip file.

Also, every time I go to the iBooks store, it wants my password...and it
recently demanded the answer to three "security" questions...in
addition to wanting such personal data as name, address, e-mail, and telephone
numbers. I did not answer these truthfully.

And don't get me started on that too-short USB cable that keeps me from float
charging it while its in use.

So there's a price, too... (Christenson)

“Apple comes out with really, really nice stuff,”

Maybe Apple is seen as worthy of support because it's an American company...

My biggest concern is that Samsung may not get a fair trial because it is a foreign company. Remember how BlackBerry fared? They say BlackBerry brought the adverse rulings upon itself. I have not studied that in depth, but still, it was pretty extreme, and perhaps contributory to the fact they are floundering today.

The thing is - this case is about patents. If there is one thing the US gov uses to justify patents and copyrights, it is "to protect American innovation". That's what patents are for, at least to the politicians.

A lot of people say that

I have some Apple stuff. I really liked my Newton. I have not bought anything
from them in a while. There are so many crippling locks and restrictions in
Apple's stuff that I wind up screaming everytime I use it.

I know a lot of people say Apple's stuff looks great and works great. I just do
not see it. Not for me.
