The problem is that PJ may disregard FOSSPatents but others do not. The

Journalists have seen the reaction to quoting Florian:
a huge pile of
comments complaining about quoting Florian
and a page hits count that sells
advertising.
If instead, a Florian quote generated one comment with
a link
off-site to a clear debunking, page hits go
down, advertising revenue falls and
journalists have to
look for the next Oracle mouth-piece to sell their

I think trying to "set the record straight" is very valuable
considering the amount of coverage one side of the story

No. Samsung has charged that there is a
"coordinated campaign" in the media against
it. I suspect that means FOSSPatents. I
don't know if Apple is a client of his also
or not. Has anyone asked? But whoever they
mean, it means there is unfairness in the
coverage.
Looking at his coverage, I do consider it
unfair, one-sided, and just plain wrong on
the facts and the law sometimes. So, that is
core for Groklaw, to make sure that truth has
a chance to breathe. We've done this since
the beginning of Groklaw. We used to address
the wrong information, if one can call it that,
from Maureen O'Gara, Rob Enderle, and Daniel
Lyons, among others. And now FOSSPatents has
joined their ranks.
People can say or write whatever they want to;
but when it's inaccurate, journalists have an
obligation. It's core for what journalism is

Didio, O'Gara, Enderle, and Lyons ran rampant with SCOX FUD and misinformation
because there was no established, reliable, objective source to counter their
untruthiness (*nod* to Colbert). The lack of any analysis of what these people
wrote helped them to hold onto a shred of seeming legitimacy way too long. Now,
fast forward to today, with Groklaw being award-winningly established as a
reliable, honest site, and FUDsters have a bit of a problem. Anyone that reads
Flo doesn't have long to see a detailed, honest analysis of his for-hire lies.
Covering FUD is important, especially from a reliable source. When you want to
know if what you're reading is trustworthy, it's good to have a trustworthy site
for reference.
