Water temps in Vancouver this time of year are in the high 50s, which is
actually fairly warm by northern pacific standards, similar to central/southern
CA, so sharks are more active. Add in the fact that the seals and otters have
just pupped and the salmon are starting to run, so you have a seasonal peak in
out-of-town predators coming to visit.
