Journalists and editors at news organizations go through a learning process relative to sources. The good ones choose which sources they regard as worth quoting, and that evolves over time.

Responsible publications use sources that have proven to be reliable and objective, and they stop using those that they find to be consistently wrong about the facts, or biased in their reporting and interpretations, in the case of analysts.

Having been a party to such editorial exchanges at an IT news website about whether or not to use this individual as a source (and having prevailed), I'll simply observe that it can take time to bring other writers and editors around.
