People do take him seriously. That's why they
quote him.
That's not the only reason and I suspect sometimes it's not even a
main reason. One reason is that he provides an easy and interesting quote.
Reporters quote defense attorneys saying that their the client looks forward to
their day in court and that they expect to be vindicated even when it's
obviously not so. I suspect something similar happens with FM
sometimes.
I have no problem with the article. It was written in a way
that wouldn't help FM. How to manage your time is your decision, not mine. If
you see the need for such an article, by all means write it.
Not that the
person I was responding to was advocating it, but what really bothers me is that
I often see people becoming angry at FM and doing things that wind up helping
his cause. Calling FM "stupid" and trying to prove that he is stupid is
counterproductive. As you know, he is certainly not stupid; he is quite clever
and is a good propagandist. (For example, he implies or suggest ideas without
actually saying them if he's too likely to be called out on them.) I don't
really expect FM to be completely ignored. (I would be a hypocrite if I said
that he should be.) I just think people need to think twice before engaging him
in battle, or ranting about what he says, though. He should be handled calmly,
