How much harm does taking him seriously do, though?
Authored by: symbolset on Thursday, July 26 2012 @ 04:13 AM EDT
He does a lot of harm. It's hard to quantify it in a meaningful way though.
SCO did a lot of harm for a long time too, and that's the best relation I can
think of.

People do take him seriously. That's why they
quote him.

AntiFUD is core for Groklaw. I wrote about
Get the Facts, after all, even though everyone
here knew already that it was ridiculous. But
those who are not techies took it seriously,
at the time, and the media wrote about it as
if it were credible.

How much dislike of Google do some have...
Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, July 26 2012 @ 04:55 PM EDT

... just because of the rumors?

Here's one rumor I keep running across as an example:

Google sues others for patent infringement!
Yet, every time I ask for evidence in the means of a Lawsuit where Google has claimed patent infringement - the evidence is never provided.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if there are those who dislike Google simple because they never bother to find out if what they're being told is actually true.

Many of the best proponents of propaganda in the world still follow Goebels principle of '..an ounce of truth in a buket of bull***'

When inundated with manure, most average citizens will latch onto that ounce of truth like a drowning man cluthing at a straw - and will ignore the filth they are floating in as a means of preserving themselves.

By flooding the marketplace with propaganda of the highest order, Muller and his paymasters know that eventually the average citizen will be unable to determine truth from fiction, and that they will then have a free hand to shape perceptions and opinions to their own ends.

Remember it is not 'truth' that matters it is accepted truth that makes a difference to history - that is why Groklaw's 'Digging for Truth' is so important. PJ is moving aside the unsavoury overburden to expose the allow people to see the truth.
