Modern reporting is predicated on the need for the 'news' sites to generate page
impressions so that they can rack up advertising revenues from Google. As a
result, they have to get the 'news' out so fast that they don't have time to do
proper research, ask questions or look for multiple sources of corroboration.
By creating an economy based solely on the number of page impressions, not the
quality of the content on those page impressions, Google exposes the entire
community, (including itself), to poor reporting.
FM is capitalising on the economy that Google has created - which just makes him
even more dangerous in todays world to my mind.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

How? Read fifteen minutes, copy somebody else's ideas in your own writings,
publish, and on to the next story. That is what an investigative journalist
organization is up against. On a cost basis investigative journalism is
screwed. Somehow the profit side needs to be taken out of the equation. PBS,
with it's direct support, can afford to spend time on investigation. So can a
few independents who are lucky enough to have support.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
