How did you make the logic leap from partitioning your congress(wo)man to doing
it with money??

I think you read between bewteen the lines, there.

Or maybe I just didn't get the joke...

no, she didn't

She said "laws are created by congress" not "laws are created
by judges", which is correct.

If Oracle were to get something passed by congress for what
they want to do you can rest assured a lot of people would
protest pretty quickly.

its called democracy
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, July 24 2012 @ 11:34 AM EDT
the idea of a democracy is that you actually are able to introduce concepts that
are important to you into law.
i'm no US citizen, but calling your local politician is exactly what is
intended. he/she takes it upward from there (should at lease).
how else should laws come into being if the highest sovereign is the people, hm?

PJ, did you just advocate bribing politicians?

I can't say I read what PJ said like that.

I just read it as saying Oracle were going to the wrong place if they wanted new
laws made.

Neither did it imply that wherever Oracle went to no one would oppose them,
probably successfully, from getting what they wanted.

Having gone to the wrong place, why should Google have to pay the bill?

How does asking your Congressman (who, after all,
theoretically represents the views of his constituents) to
pass a law that you want equate to bribery? If you don't tell
your Congressman how you want him to do his job, then he's
free to do what he wants willy-nilly. Nobody said that the
process had to involve any money changing hands. (And to the
cynics out there, yes, I know....)

Theory vs practice
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, July 24 2012 @ 01:07 PM EDT
In theory, congress is there for we the people, all we have to do is ask.

In practice, the asking is much better received if accompanied by a large
donation or two.

History strongly suggests that such donations are beyond the financial
wherewithal of most people, and so congresscritters tend to have much better
reception for corporate donors.

So you making an accusation that Oracle bribed Judge Alsup?

Fairly serious, that... How 'bout you state your evidence?

It's unlikely PJ will respond to this

She tends to follow her own advice: ignore trolls.
Credible complaints and legitimate questions are often addressed, however.
