Now we know where Microsoft got the idea for the B16B00B5
string in their HyperV code in the Linux kernel:
They've been watching too much reality TV. ;-)

Back in the '70s & '80s I worked on a computer system, the Collins 8500C.
This system had the first "LAN" I ever worked on. Instead of packets,
as used now, it was a Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) network, with time slots
on the cable. While the system I worked on was confined to a single site, the
Collins plan was that their network could be used to connect multiple sites.
This network design dates back to the '60s.

In "So, who really did invent the Internet?", they miss
the point entirely. They are talking about the Technology.
It is not technology at all.
Analogy on aviation: It is not the AIRPLANE, dummy. Its
the AIRLINES, etc.
But they still want to talk Ethernet, etc. Gore is the one
that took Arpanet and its govt/educ thing and gave to us.
He called it the Information Superhighway.

The two devices run completely different operating systems with a different
application ecology. How can they possibly be confused? You just have to turn
them on to see the difference. So why is the court only looking at the
appearance of these devices when turned off?
It is a bit like saying two books are the same because they are both rectangular
and have pages made out of paper. Under this reasoning The Lord of the Rings
would infringe the design patent for War and Peace. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
