That modem was a US Robotics Dual Standard, which was eventually upgraded to 56k
down & 33k up. My first modem was a 300B manual modem. Also, I used to
overhaul Teletype machines. The M33 ASR was popular for use as a computer
terminal. It had a tape punch and reader on the left side. One thing that
paper tape was useful for was making a Möbius strip. I actually owned a M35
ASR, which was a much more rugged & reliable machine than the M33. I was
able to buy it as surplus from my employer. I connected it to my IMSAI 8080
computer.

The paper tape punch and reader made it an ASR33. Without them, you have a KSR.
I wasn't that familiar with models 33 and 35, since all my training was on Model
28. But I did clean and lube an ASR33 once for a radio station in Honolulu. They
used it as the log for one of their automated tape players. They had a second
unit to program the system, but it didn't get nearly as much use.
