If you simply search for "judge overrules jury" you will get nearly 1 million hits. I am not going to sort through them for you.

A google search of "unicorns" turns up over 18 million hits. That doesn't make them turn up on a regular basis. You made the claim that it's not unusual for judges to overturn juries, the onus is on you to prove it. Simply saying how many hits a google search returns doesn't meet that bar. How many cases did a judge NOT overturn versus how many they did would be more relevant data...not how many hits a search engine spits out.
