Perhaps one of their 'larger' shareholders are keeping him there?

Ubuntu & 'apt-get' are not the answer to Life, The Universe & Everything which
is of course, "42" or is it 1.618?

Worst CEO Ever

The story is that the former Chairman wanted a Finn, a Nokia insider for the CEO slot. He got a call from "American institutional investors," telling him to put Elop in that spot. He resisted and was told that if he refused he would be replaced, and his replacement would do it.

That's not my story, just what I heard. It might not be true.

I believe it though, and I also believe that Elop is "on plan" and unlikely to be replaced as he scuttles Nokia.

The author is distraught because he loves his country and Nokia and sees them both being harmed. Tomi Ahonen is a former Nokia executive and a Finn, and Nokia is a Finnish national treasure - its destruction is devastating to the economy, and not just the lost jobs. The lost value of Nokia's market price was largely held by Finnish retirement funds - many of which now will not have sufficient funds to continue to pay retirees. Entire cities have been turned into ghost towns. It's a national disaster.

I don't think that Elop is likely to be fired, but this sort of attack on the national economy should be investigated by the government of Finland. It's as devastating as an invasion.
