Question 2 is a VERY good question. Again, in discussing Virtual Machines with
some security people -- including some Red Hat people -- I've heard how
low-level virtualization means that if a malware can GET to the hypervisor there
is going to be more room to install a NEW VM which without help the OLD OS can't
SEE. Hello?
There IS currently no good solution. Obviously the best hope would be an Open
Source Tool to check the resources available vs. the resources available to it.
But till we have it M$ has seized the argument with its tired old Trusted
Sources Schtick to which you CAN apply that anti-gun control argument -- only
criminals will have bootloaders.
This is horrifying and it's OS-agnostic because it means that the malware
writers will just have to come up with their own limited functionality OSes to
do their dirty work anyhow. It does affect Linux.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
