Think about it PJ! If you only hire people who already have experience, where
are you going to find the new ones when the old ones retire?

That said, there seem to be far too many cases where the new guys make a mess of
it, which only enhances their CV in preparation for the next disaster ...

Actually, he was...

...for short periods of time, anyway. According to Wikipedia he was the CEO of
Macromedia (for only three months just before Adobe bought them out) and he was
the COO of Juniper Networks for one year. As head of Microsoft's Business
Division, he would have been running a division that's much bigger than most
companies.

Possibly he came as part of the deal.

The deal with the board (and Elop) was that if he was selected, then MS would
"partner" with them in the phone market.

With the usual result of MS partners...
