Fresh blood

I'm sure most people believed you, but the trouble is that the article just makes it sound as if the investors wanted Nokia to bring in some fresh blood. Given that CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo apparently didn't do a very good job, there would have been a fear that the Executive Vice President, Anssi Vanjoki, wouldn't have been much better since he was a long-term member of the same management team. There is nothing unusual about that, if that is all that there was to it.

One correction, though. You said that the rumor was that the investors said that it had to be Elop. The article said that it had to be someone from overseas, which would have allowed the chairman to pick someone from Asia or the Americas. It looks like they wanted the person to not have too much of an European focus.

FWIW, here are a couple of articles about Mr. Vanjoki. There are probably better ones, but it's just what I found.
