Talk about playing with fire... and for what payoff? The
browser choice screen was a pretty weak penalty - especially
now that browser usage stats are clearly showing people are
aware (and using) non IE browsers very commonly.

I think it's pretty much what MS said - they just screwed it
up horribly. There was clearly something funny about the
browser choice windows update, I've been seeing it pop up
repeatedly on AU copies of windows 7 (and only W7, we have a
few vista machines too and they're not doing that) - doubt
that was intended.

That this wasn't being monitored more carefully is very
surprising, and is probably going to be very expensive since
there's really no defence when you've been saying "yep, we
do that" for 15 months *without checking*.

I just don't think so. It might be conceivable as an accident, but a resonable
possibility; I don't think so.
