You should ask for a refund for the Windows software that you're not using.
Otherwise, it still counts as a MS sale. MS would probably be happy if no one
used Windows, as long as everyone still paid for it on new systems.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I repartioned my ThinkPad, so that I could install Linux on it, while leaving
Windows on. While I don't use it often, there are times when I need Windows,
such as downloading ebooks from the library. However, that computer still
spends most of it's time running Linux.

I wiped XP from an Acer laptop and put in Ubuntu. Then, when I wanted to sell it
to my brother, I had to reinstall XP. Fetched up less of a hassle than I
expected, but never again.
When I got an HP laptop, I pulled the hard disk, so I kept Blista, then put in a
new one for Ubuntu. That way, I can always revert. Similarly when I get round to
it, my brother's older Acer laptop is getting a bigger disk, so I can keep XP
available on the shelf.
cheers
