Saying "do it with a COMPUTER" actually fits the form of an accepted
patent paradigm. After all, people had been plowing fields for millenia, but
doing it with a MACHINE (that is, inventing a tractor and implements to do it)
is a new thing.
So why isn't "doing it with a (pre-existing) COMPUTER" a new thing?
For the same reason "plowing a PATH in a PARK with a (pre-existing)
TRACTOR" isn't a new thing. ANY time you have ANYTHING to plow, your
existing tractor is an obvious tool to use. ANY time you have ANY logical
(mathematical) task, your existing computer CANNOT be ANYTHING but an obvious
tool to use. Because that was what the computer was designed and invented FOR.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

So the airplane should not have been patentable since birds have been flying
since ancient times and modifying wood, rope and burlap, which have also been
around since ancient times to fly was not new.
Do I understand your position?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
