Actually no.

The problem is the COOLANT.

They've replaced CFCs (boiling point about -50C) with hydrocarbons (about
-10C).

Point is, you need a coolant which is gaseous at ambient temperature, but easily
liquified by compression. The closer the boiling point is to the working
temperature, the less efficient the cooling becomes, such that modern coolants
break down and stop working when the ambient temperature becomes about 0C.

I got talked into ditching an old CFC fridge-freezer (we needed the space) and
kept the newer one instead. Big mistake.
