I would think that, as an independent market participant, your choice between
Superb Product A and Adequate Product B, will be accounted for in the ultimate
litigation. To put it another way, if right prevails, it will be given some of
the money you paid to Apple.
What a big "If."

Joe Wilcox of BetaNews has
escaped Apple's walled gardens.
Since December 1998,
when on impulse I bought
the original iMac from CompUSA, I've used Apple gear.
No
longer...
Circumstances since choosing to boycott make me all the
more adamant. Last week, US District Judge Lucy Koh issued
two preliminary
injunctions against Samsung devices --
Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Nexus.
Yesterday she denied
Samsung's request to stay the ban pending appeal.
Anticipating Nexus' similar fate, Google swiftly
responded by pulling
the phone from its online store and
dispatching an update to existing phones. I
chose to boycott
being so angry by Apple's aggressive patent bullying that
thwarts competition and takes away consumer choice. Today, I
celebrate
America's independence anniversary by gaining
freedom from
Apple. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Several products that I rely on for work are either Mac or Windows products.
Some are only one or the other. Those sorts of things are what keep me from
migrating to Linux.
I'm just as perplexed and displeased at their litigious behavior, but as far as
their operating system itself, etc. It does everything I need and does it well.
At
this point, I haven't been able to figure a way to set up a comparable system
in Linux. I always end up having to give up this or give up that, and that is a
hard proposition when having those features or products makes my work
easier. I always keep my eyes open for the possibility of moving over to Linux
and I hope to do that one day. We'll see. :)
In the end, there is some truth to the idea that productivity beats ideology in
the marketplace. Having said that, if I didn't need certain programs, I could
easily see myself on a Linux system. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Not doing business with a company is really the only effective means you have to
let them know you actually care about what they're doing. Telling them that you
object helps of course, but companies learn pretty quickly that they can safely
ignore you if you don't actually act on not liking what they're doing. That
leads to a horrendously dysfunctional system pretty quickly (eg Microsoft,
gaming etc).[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

If Apple already has your money then not using the product does no good. I agree
with PJ from another thread that the best option is to voice your opinion
directly to Apple and explain why they will never receive another dime from you.
And to be true to your word you should not purchase anything through the itunes
store. Root your device if you have to, but make sure they never benifit from
your ownership. You can activly advertise your disent by making a red circle
with a line through it and place it directly over the apple logo on each
devise. --- The Geeks IP Law: The future health of a Corporation is
measured as the inverse of the number of IP lawsuits they have filed in the last
