As I mentioned in another note, I use Linux on an old computer for my firewall.
For WiFi, I use a TP-Link TL-WA901ND access point. It also supports that
function among others. Since it can use PoE, I was able to mount it near the
middle of my condo, up on the laundry room wall, where power wasn't handy. It
also runs Linux.

I have been using m0n0wall for my home network for several years. It has been
very stable and can be used without any disk drives.
