Can't get traction even when they pay people to use it
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, July 03 2012 @ 12:08 AM EDT
- The Bing Cashback program (paying end users cash for using Bing).

- A reported payment of $550 million USD to Verizon to use Bing on its
Blackberry and foreclose use of other "decision" engines.

- Reported payments to News Corp to use Bing and not use Google.

- A reported $30 million payment to Twitter to use Bing.

- A deal with Yahoo for that company to use Bing as its search.

It adds up.

And yet ... still, practically nobody uses it.

Microsoft, have you ever thought, just for a second or two, about WHY your brand
is disfavored by so many people? Could it have anything to do with, oh, I don't
know, maybe your conduct?

If so, mightn't you think perhaps about improving that conduct?

Microsoft takes $6.2 billion charge, slows Internet hopes

It's actually about $16 billion I believe. Business Insider has a lot of fun with this one every quarter.

This is all about a grudge Steve Ballmer has against Google. It's a horrible waste, and it's getting nowhere. Imagine what useful things could be done with that kind of money.
