Think of it as a tax break for having insurance

mismanaged for decades.

I guess I MIGHT agree with you, with a big caveat...if you
want insurance to be a truly free option, then you cannot
force anyone (doctor, hospital, etc.) to provide you with
any aid whatsoever if you don't have insurance (or be paying
up front in cash - which you might find difficult to do if
you are unconscious) - oh - and there is a waiting period if
you decide to delay your insurance purchase until you need
it.
Sort of like that one incident a while back where the fire
department arrived at a home fire but refused to do anything
because the home owner decided they didn't need to pay the
tax for the fire department.

Your viewpoint lost.

Freedom for what? Freedom for your kids
to have no insurance? What kind of "freedom"
is that?
