Monsanto Wins Patent Case On Plant Genes

According to this article, Monsanto won the case, not because the plants were cross-pollinated, but (according to the defendant) some of Monsanto's seeds allegedly fell accidentally onto his land.

up...heard about the guy that got his field cross-pollinated with the neighbor's patented plants, and got sued for not paying the license fees?

Except that wasn't true*. You have fallen into the common error of repeating claims that the losing side of a court case made, as if they were true.
The post that you replied to did not say which side won, only that they were sued, which is true. It doesn't matter which side won, the suit was filed. That is all that "being sued" means.
