Government can mandate you get health insurance and that you
need to pay for it, or you will pay a tax (penalty).
Government all over does this. Auto insurance is mandated
all over the place. Nothing new there, totally expected.
What needs to be seen is what happens to the part of the
ruling regarding the "commerce clause". That is being read
now, and re-read, by many.

The first part of the opinion concludes that the court can take up the case
because the individual mandate is not a tax. The next part of the opinion
concludes that congress was within its powers to enact the individual mandate
because it is a tax (but not under either the commerce or general welfare
