Obama may have called it "the right thing to do," Scalia said, but
"Arizona may not think so."
I have a N.E. liberal democrat friend who goes to Arizona, for part of the year
(working), and he sees that there is a problem at a personal level with
immigration there (crime, etc). Says, that almost everyone has a personal
story. And this liberal democrat friend, sympathizes with the folks in Arizona,
due to "OWNING" a personal story that is negative, that has affected
his point of view. He says, that many liberals in the country just don't know
how bad it is there. And, should go there, live there, and get the full
experience (bets many would change their minds, like he has).
So, mabye Scalia has been there, heard a few stories too.

My preference would be for judges to be a bit more circumspect. Perhaps, It is a
sign of the times. There is a real prob in AZ and in my state CA. AZ is just
resorting to a more draconian method based on the voting population. I believe
the law left standing is legal if properly enforced. Of course, that is now the
prob.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
