Seeing that the desktop is yesterday's technology and that Linux (and BSD) rule
supreme in the new mobile paradigm, there is no reason for Linux to take over
the desktop.
The desktop PC, with it's clunky form factor, ever-increasing cooling needs,
five-to-ten minute boot time, and mechanical hard drives are going the way of
the CRT monitor (and so is Microsoft).
The idea that a computer is something you go over to to use, as if it was a
