Yes it was. Just there, in the parent post.
By *a* native speaker I meant *one* native
speaker, that's all. I'm easy to please. :)

Age has made the saying hard to understand,
like you say, to a point where it would now
make better sense if the order of "X and Y"
was reversed to "Y and X". (I'm not saying this
would be good. On the contrary, it would
most probably be a terribly bad idea.)

Hmm. Funny how "and" is not necessarily commutative
in natural language - it often denotes a sequence,
even a causation.
