I was paid to take the last Oracle product I brought home. It is an early
version on 5.25 floppies.
Having come from a DB2 shop I never liked Oracle.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I'm in the same boat.. I figured it was just because I was getting old and those
new fangled languages Java, C#, .NET were just a waste of time..
Then again, I have spent a lot of time with Python and Ruby in the last few
years. I figured I would *have* to learn Java some day (for Android if nothing
else), but with this Oracle mess, I just want to stay away forever.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

That is, there's a lot to like about the DESIGN and FUNCTIONALITY of the Java
language...in terms of managing inheritance, etc.
How long before someone (Google?) comes up with a new language that is
isomorphic (Java --> filter --> AntiJava), not called JAVA,
cross-linkable, and completely free?
And no, I won't be upset if I get bombarded by examples...I'll just wonder how
long before they gain huge amounts of mind/market share!
