There is a -reason- I never bothered to learn Java per se. It's the same reason
I didn't learn C-pound or dot-net.
The long version of the I Told You So dance has begun in my heart, even if
nobody ever sees it out in the real world.
{Same nonsense is trying to get going over at Boeing. I am sure it's universal.
Oracle has -never- been rational or forthright in their licensing practices.
Ever. On any product I am aware of. Which is why once I left a particular job I
switched to focusing on PostgresQL etc.}
Oracle is not even evil, its just avaricious and self-important. Shame that has
paid them so well.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

As a Java developer, I wasn't aware that you needed a license to use java (the
language), whether JSE or JEE. (JME I believe you do - although correct me if
I'm wrong, but then you wouldn't be using that for "enterprise"
software connecting to a database and all).
So I could understand the architect changing the target DB, but not the
language.
Just curious ...
Thanks.
