The Microsoft Surface Tablet Is a Gentle Kick in the Teeth of the OEM's

Peter Bright has a slightly different take over at Ars Technica . In particular, he argues the reason Android is a success is precisely because Google commissioned HTC to build Nexus phones to Google's specification, thus setting a minimum bar for the other OEM's. Otherwise mediocrity would doom the platform in face of iPhone excellence.

Mr. Bright argues Microsoft faces the same challenge establishing Windows tablets against iPad dominance, and is meeting it much the same way.

The Microsoft Surface Tablet Is Going To Be A Total Flop

The post-PC era however could belong to someone else. At this point, it's too early to see who that will be.
Is it? Yeah some companies have market share numbers higher than Apple, but Apple has market share and high profits. The thing is, is this technology wave really about hardware, or services?
